- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup quality honey
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
- Layer about 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- In a bowl, mix chopped nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and salt; sprinkle half over the phyllo layers.
- Add another 8 sheets of phyllo on top of the nut mixture, brushing each with butter. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- Cut diamond shapes into the top layer before baking for about 45-50 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the syrup, combine sugar, water, and honey in a saucepan; bring to a boil then simmer for 10 minutes.
- Pour hot syrup over the baked baklava; let it sit for several hours or overnight to absorb flavors.
