  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sautéed
  • 1 cup tomato sauce (for topping)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant (about 5 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, sautéed onion mixture, eggs, Parmesan cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf on a baking sheet or in a loaf pan.
  5. Spread tomato sauce generously over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for about 60 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
