  • 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 2 tbsp dill pickle relish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ketchup, mayonnaise, hot sauce, and dill pickle relish until smooth. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
  2. Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook for about 15 minutes until golden brown and soft.
  3. Shape the ground beef into two patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Cook in another skillet over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side.
  4. Place sliced cheddar on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover briefly to melt.
