- Zest of one orange

Instructions
- Rinse cranberries under cold water, removing stems or soft berries.
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced onions and grated ginger for about 5 minutes until translucent.
- Add cranberries and chopped apples; stir until combined.
- Pour in sugar and apple cider vinegar, adding the cinnamon stick. Stir gently until bubbling.
- Reduce heat to low; simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in orange zest and salt. If using walnuts, fold them in before cooling.
