  • 2 medium tart apples (like Granny Smith), peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Zest of one orange
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional), toasted

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries under cold water, removing stems or soft berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and sauté diced onions and grated ginger for about 5 minutes until translucent.
  3. Add cranberries and chopped apples; stir until combined.
  4. Pour in sugar and apple cider vinegar, adding the cinnamon stick. Stir gently until bubbling.
  5. Reduce heat to low; simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in orange zest and salt. If using walnuts, fold them in before cooling.
