- 1 package phyllo dough (16 oz)
- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups fresh spinach, wilted
- 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add 2 tbsp olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Stir in garlic and cook for one minute. Add ground meat and cook until browned.
- Fold in wilted spinach and season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a bowl, combine the meat mixture with crumbled feta and beaten eggs until well incorporated.
- Brush a baking dish with remaining olive oil. Layer phyllo sheets, brushing each layer lightly with olive oil. Pour in the filling and fold overhanging dough over the top. Add more layers of phyllo if desired. Brush the top layer with olive oil and cut slits for steam release.
