  • 4 cups russet potatoes (about 4 medium), thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Thinly slice the russet potatoes into even rounds (about 1/8 inch thick).
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Heat until warm but not boiling.
  5. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the prepared dish; pour half of the cream mixture over them and sprinkle with half of each cheese type.
  6. Repeat the layering with remaining potatoes, sauce, and cheeses.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
